Elma Montaña

Director of Science Programs / InterAmerican Institute for Global Change Research, URUGUAY

Elma Montaña is also a researcher at the National Research Council of Argentina and Professor at the School of Social and Political Sciences, National University of Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina and former Vice-director of INCIHUSA (Human, Social and Environmental Sciences Institute).

She was researcher granted by the CLACSO-CROP Programme and participated in several activities organized by CROP. The results of her research were published in the book "Escenarios de cambio ambiental global, escenarios de pobreza rural. Una mirada desde el territorio" (CLACSO-CROP, 2012).

Montaña received her PhD from Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (Paris III) in Geography, Urban Studies and Planning (2003). Her areas of expertise are Comparative Development Studies: Power, Inequity and Poverty in Coupled Natural and Human Systems; Social dimensions of global environmental change in dry lands: vulnerabilities and adaptive capacities and Political Ecology of Water.
