Localizing Globalization: Gendered Transformations of Work in Developing Economies

Localizing Globalization: Gendered Transformations of Work in Developing Economies

CONFRENCE organized by the University of Bergen and the Christian Michelsen Institute.

31 October - 1 November 2013 | Bergen, Norway

The conference is an interdisciplinary effort to investigate and compare how global flows of capital and goods shape local labor markets in different developing economies.

Through empirical and theoretical explorations the conference will center on dynamics of inclusion and exclusion in local labor markets and the principles at work in the production of these cultural specific dynamics.

Such an effort has the potential to reveal processes involved in the shaping of different forms of 'localization of globalization' which can give us a better understanding of the production of difference in the present world of work.
