A Better World Economic Order for Equality and Sustainable Development Post-2015

PUBLIC EVENT: Public symposium at United Nations Conference On Trade And Development 50th anniversary event.

18-19 June 2014 | Geneva, Switzerland

The Public Symposium is an annual UNCTAD outreach event, where government officials, academics, representatives from civil society and the private sector, and other observers will bring together broad views and perspectives on topics likely to dominate the global political agenda.

The Public Symposium 2014 will be an opportunity to reflect both on the fiftieth anniversary of UNCTAD and the key challenges to address within the post-2015 development agenda.

The Symposium will examine the macroeconomic dimensions of inequality, as well as how the problems of inequality are being addressed and what countries can learn from each other.

The theme and sub-themes were selected in consultation with civil society, the United Nations Non-Governmental Liaison Service and the UNCTAD secretariat.

The Symposium is open to representatives of member States, national parliaments, international organizations, United Nations agencies, civil society, the private sector, academia and the media.
