Access to jobs is one of the main vehicles to poverty reduction and the most important determinant of living standards around the world. To end poverty and promote shared prosperity, we need more jobs and better jobs. Is there a role for donors to contribute to job creation in poor countries?
David McKenzie is one of the world’s leading researchers on income generation and private sector development in poor countries. He is a Lead Economist in the World Bank Development Research Group, Finance and Private Sector Development Unit. He received his PhD in Economics from Yale University and spent four years as an assistant professor of Economics at Stanford University before he joined the World Bank.
