En el borde: el riesgo de empobrecimiento de los sectores medios en tiempos de ajuste y globalización
Minor MORA SALAS. CLACSO-CROP Series. CLACSO, Buenos Aires, December 2008.
This book looks at risks of experiencing poverty among the middle class with a case study from Costa Rica. The central thesis of the book is that the transition towards a globalized model of accumulation has limited the possibilities of social integration which the model of development promoted in Costa Rica in the last half of the 20th century. A significant part of the middle class is now exposed to, and in grave danger of ending up in, poverty. Their daily lives have been transformed to a continuous struggle to avoid pauperization. Social policies promoted today are no longer an opportunity and help, but rather a threat to their rights and well being as citizens.
