Empobrecimiento y desigualdades de género en el imaginario de las mujeres nicaragüenses: estudio de caso en el umbral del siglo XXI
Aura Violeta ALDANA SARACCINI. CLACSO-CROP Series. CLACSO. Buenos Aires, December 2008.
This work looks at inequality among women in Nicaragua from two theoretical perspectives: critical theory and symbolic interaction. The protagonists are women of heterogeneous age, employment and education, belonging to the poor sectors in the country. The book examines how symbolism, deriving from these women‟s proper conceptual and ideological formation, allows perceiving the causes of their poverty and gender inequality which is produced and reproduced. It also looks at how these perceptions may have made them critical and optimistic social subjects, but also resulting in women of indifference and pessimism, conformed to their role and with little vision or resources in order to change the situation.
