De la coca al poder: políticas públicas de sustitución de la economía de la coca y pobreza en Bolivia
Fernando B. SALAZAR ORTUÑO. CLACSO-CROP Series. CLACSO, Buenos Aires, December 2008.
This book examines one of the most polemic social challenges of Latin America; the movement of coca-producers in Trópico de Cochabamba, Bolivia, who have consolidated a peasant-economy by way of legal cultivation of the coca plant. The author looks at the various policies and the debate, and actions, between those who wish to ban production and those who defend it, with respect to the impact it has on poverty. It is claimed the coca production has led to an increased social participation among the workers and a defense for water, gas and other natural resources in the country.
