¡7.500 millones de personas!¿Qué es y para qué sirve la demografía
NEW BOOK by Jorge Paz (National University of Salta, Argentina)
This is a mass dissemination book about Demography. Tales of questions and answers: how is the population counted? Is it true that there are more women than men? And more elderly than young? What happens if we keep growing at the same speed? Is the Earth enough for so many people, or does it become necessary to migrate to other planets?
Since the birth of humanity, about 200,000 years ago, in Africa, there was a stable growth, and by the year 1000 we were about 300 million. At the beginning of the 19th century, the population began to accelerate rapidly. Today, the increase in life expectancy coexists with poverty and with global inequality. What are the projections for the future? How true it is that in the year 2075 we will be 9,200 million of people?
These are the questions that Jorge Paz (National University of Salta, Argentina) raises in his most recent book entitled "¡7.500 millones de personas!¿Qué es y para qué sirve la demografía" and published by Siglo Veintiuno Editores.
